Dear Edgemont Parents/Guardians, 

Provo City School District administration is pleased to announce the implementation of a new visitor management system at all Provo City School District schools and sites. It is our plan to implement the RAPTOR Visitor Management System beginning Monday, November 6th. This new system is part of the district’s goal of school safety for students, staff, and the community. 

As a digital safety solution, the RAPTOR system will change the way visitors in the Provo City School District check in and out when visiting our schools and sites, and it will help us keep better track of who is in our buildings at all times. 

Upon entering a Provo City School District school or site, visitors will be asked to present a valid approved government-issued ID, which will be scanned into the system. The system checks the visitor’s name and date of birth for customized alerts such as custody, protective, and restraining orders. This database is the only one checked by the RAPTOR Visitor Management System. No other data from the identification is gathered or recorded, and the information is not shared with any outside agency. This will require all visitors, including parents, to bring a driver’s license or other government-issued identification into the RAPTOR check in area, adjacent to the front office when visiting. This scanning process is quick, easy, and user-friendly and our office staff will be available to assist you. It should also be noted that, for privacy purposes, a copy of your ID is not maintained in the scanner, nor is it kept by the school or site. 

Once the ID has been scanned and entry is approved, the system will create a unique badge that identifies the visitor, date, and purpose of the visit. Visitors will be required to wear this badge upon entrance to the school or site and throughout their visit. We ask that all visitors check out with front office personnel before leaving the school or site and leave the visitor badge with them.

The safety of students and staff is the highest priority of the Provo City School District.

La administración del Distrito Escolar de la Ciudad de Provo se complace en anunciar la implementación de un nuevo para los  visitantes en todas las escuelas y sitios del Distrito Escolar de la Ciudad de Provo. Nuestro plan es implementar el sistema RAPTOR para los visitantes comenzando con cuatro escuelas primarias a partir de Noviembre 6, del 2023.  Este nuevo sistema es parte de la meta del distrito de seguridad escolar para los estudiantes, el personal y la comunidad.

Como solución de seguridad digital, el sistema RAPTOR cambiará la forma en que los visitantes del Distrito Escolar de la Ciudad de Provo se registran y salen cuando visitan nuestras escuelas y sitios, y nos ayudará a mantener un mejor registro de quién está en nuestros edificios en todo momento.

Al ingresar a una escuela o sitio del Distrito Escolar de la Ciudad de Provo, se les pedirá a los visitantes que presenten una identificación válida emitida por el gobierno, que se escaneará en el sistema. El sistema verifica el nombre y la fecha de nacimiento del visitante para compararlo con una base de datos nacional de delincuentes y alertas personalizadas, como órdenes de custodia, protección y restricción. Esta base de datos es la única verificada por el sistema RAPTOR para  visitantes. No se recopilan ni registran otros datos de identificación, y la información no se comparte con ninguna agencia externa. Esto requerirá que todos los visitantes, incluidos los padres, traigan una licencia de conducir u otra identificación emitida por el gobierno en el área de registro de RAPTOR, cada vez que  visiten la oficina principal. Este proceso de escaneo es rápido y fácil de usar y nuestro personal de oficina estará disponible para ayudarlo. También debe tenerse en cuenta que, por motivos de privacidad, no se guarda una copia de su identificación en el escáner ni en la escuela o sitio.

Una vez que se haya escaneado la identificación y se haya aprobado la entrada, el sistema creará una etiqueta única que identifica al visitante, la fecha y el propósito de la visita. Se requerirá que los visitantes usen esta etiqueta al entrar a la escuela o sitio y durante su visita. Les pedimos a todos los visitantes que se registren con el personal de la oficina antes de salir de la escuela y que dejen la etiqueta de visitante con ellos.

La seguridad de los estudiantes y el personal es la máxima prioridad del Distrito Escolar de la Ciudad de Provo. De antemano, le agradecemos por su comprensión y apoyo para mejorar los protocolos de seguridad escolar en el distrito.
