Edgemont Elementary School

Dear Edgemont Families,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! We hope you have had a great summer and are ready to start back in a couple of weeks. We are excited to have our Edgemont students back and ready to learn. Our teachers are getting everything ready for the arrival of our students. With the Olympics taking place in France, we’ve chosen the theme of “Go For the Gold!” for our school year. Just like our Olympians, this means to strive for the best you can be in academics, behavior, and friendships. We look forward to focusing on this theme throughout the school year.

Back to School SEP’s

This year we will be holding Back to School SEP conferences. These will be short 15 minute conferences where you get a chance to meet your child’s teacher one on one. Our teachers will share classroom expectations and procedures and you and your child will have the opportunity to ask questions, share concerns and information. Please watch for an email sign up for a conference slot with your child’s teacher. The SEP conferences will take place during August 13-16 from 1:45 – 4:00 pm each day. We are looking forward to this opportunity for you and your child to get to know your teacher better and your teacher getting to know your child and you. Our hope is these conferences help get the school year off to a great start for everyone.

Class Assignments

You can find your child’s class assignment on PowerSchool.

If you don’t see a class assignment, it may be because your child is a Kindergartner and those assignments will be created after Kindergarten testing is complete, or you still need to finish registering your child for school.

Please keep in mind that we’ve worked very hard to create balanced classes and will not be making class changes. Class requests took place in April and we have honored those requests. I have great confidence in all of our teachers and I know your child will be successful in any of our classrooms at Edgemont. If your child comes home concerned, we ask that you give it at least a month to give your children time to adjust to their new teachers and school year.

While you are in PowerSchool, please follow the directions in it to update your information. It’s important that the school has updated addresses, phone numbers and email addresses, as well as emergency contacts.

Back to School Night

Back to School Night will take place on Monday, August 12, 5:00 – 6:00 pm. Come with your child to meet their teacher and see the classroom. The PTA will also be there and you can meet the PTA board, join PTA, and sign up to help with our school events. We’d love to have you be part of our PTA.

School Supplies

The items on these lists will be used during the regular school day. They may be brought from home on a voluntary basis, otherwise, they will be furnished by the school.

Morning Student Drop Off and Afternoon Student Pick up

The drop off/pick up procedures are as follows, also check the map below: Please follow our drop-off and pick-up procedures using the instructions and map below.

  2.  Students are dropped off and picked up along the sidewalk on the right-hand side. They need to exit the right side of the car. If the doors are blocked on that side, the parent needs to get out of the car, open the door, and walk their child to the sidewalk.
  3. The pull-through lane is pull-through only, with no parking or drop-off, or pick-up. Cars in the pull-through lane are continuously moving.
  4. All students wait on the sidewalk along the school to get picked up. No students will be allowed to wait on the sidewalk across the driveway by the parking lot.
  5. Do not drop off your children in the parking lot! Park and walk your child across the parking lot and to the school.
  6. Only cars with a handicap sticker or license plates can park in the handicap parking spots.
  7. Do not drop off or pick up students on Timpview Drive or in the neighborhood behind the school.
