Dear Parents,

Thank you for your patience and feedback as we navigate the new fences and gates at our school.  After communicating with the district, we will leave the south gate open at this time for arrival and dismissal, since this path is currently part of our safe routes to Edgemont.  To maintain a balance between the safety needs of our school and the needs of the community, the students may use the south entrance for arrival and then the gate will be locked 30 minutes after school begins, around 9:10 am and will remained locked during the school day.  The gate will then be unlocked around 3:00 pm for student dismissal.  

This school year, with our community council and safety committee we will work together to figure out how to best manage the gates and fence for the safety of our students and community and update the safe schools route if needed.  

Because of this update, we’ll need to revert back to our previous morning procedures for now. Here they are as a reminder:  All students arriving in the morning before the 8:35 am bell will go to the back playground to play. Students who are eating breakfast can enter the building through the front entrance at 8:15 am and after they finish eating go outside to play. At 8:35 am students will line up and teachers will pick up their students and walk them into class.  Afternoon dismissal will also proceed as in past years with walkers and bikers exiting out the back and side doors and car riders and bus riders exiting out the front doors.
