African Arts & Dance Classes for Kids
In partnership with UVU Community Education, Ngoma y’Africa Cultural Center is holding two exciting classes for children in the community starting September 9th. It is going to be a 4 weeks-class and we would appreciate your help spreading the word out with your students for this exciting opportunity to learn about African Culture through Arts and Dance.
Arts of Africa for students to dive into African culture and explore drawing, acrylics, watercolor, color theory, and sculpture/jewelry inspired by African heritage and traditions taught by one of our teachers, Annette Campbell. Here is Annette’s Bio: Annette grew up on the beautiful island of Jamaica. She graduated from Brigham Young Hawaii with her Bachelors in University Studies – social work/Art. At a very early age she developed a love for the arts. Annette enjoys using various mediums in her artwork such as: oils, pencils, oil pastels, watercolor painting, charcoal and silverpoint. She continually strives to further her art education by attending art workshops, in pursuit of becoming a Religious artist. She has taken art classes in Honolulu, Hawaii, and Florence, Italy. Her artwork has been exhibited in Hawaii, Salt Lake City, Bountiful, Ogden Utah
African Dance for students to find their rhythm or their roots. Learn the dances of Africa and get a taste of African culture and community. Taught by me, Yvonne Nsabimana (Madame Baraketse), previous first grade French Immersion teacher at Edgemont Elementary.
