Dear Parents,

We had a great turnout at Back to School Night a couple weeks ago! We loved meeting new and seasoned teachers, hearing from our new principal, Ms. Kartchner and seeing so many of you! Thanks for all those who signed up for PTA and to volunteer to help with the PTA activities throughout the year. We’ve loved seeing students sporting their new Edgemont T-shirts! We want to give a BIG thank you to Josh Hammari, our very own Edgemont parent who designed them as well as designing the beautiful banners and signs in the front of our school.

We were thrilled to have so many come to our first PTA meeting, and we invite everyone to come to our upcoming meeting on Wednesday, September 11th at 9:00am, in room 121. We will have light refreshments and kids are more than welcome! Come learn about what is happening at the school and how you can get involved. We would love to have you!

We are excited to announce that our new librarian, Mrs.Krazeck, will be rolling out the Battle of the Books program in 3rd & 4th grades this year and will be adding grades 5th & 6th next year. This a reading incentive program that gets kids excited about reading while having a fun competition with their peers. This will take place during library time. It is a national program, and thanks to our PTA sponsoring this program by purchasing the books, Edgemont will be offering this great program to our kids! Edgemont Before and After School Classes are starting! Your child may be interested in Choir, Chess Club, Showstoppers or one of the new classes starting up this year like Math Counts or Girls Coding. Check out https://edgemont.provo.edu/school-information/before-after-school-program/ to register and for more information on classes offered this year. Anglea Colton is still looking for a teacher for the STEM science class and anyone interested can apply on the Provo City School District website.

We are excited for Bike to School Week—a fun five days celebrating biking, walking, and rolling to school from September 9-13th! Sign in each morning at the bike racks with one of our volunteers. Enter a raffle for prizes! Then join our Get Out and Go Rodeo on Friday from 1:30-3pm after school!

Save the date, September 27th for our annual school Fund-Run! This is a fun event where students get pledges for running and all the money goes directly to help their teacher’s classroom. We are excited to support our wonderful Edgemont teachers in this event. In past years, teachers have bought equipment and teaching supplies that they wouldn’t have been able to otherwise.
