Dear Edgemont Families,

Welcome back to school and a new year!  I hope each of you had an enjoyable and restful break and holiday.  I enjoyed time with my family and also sleeping in! Our school is currently working on our middle of the year DIBELs reading assessments.  Our students are showing good progress in their reading. Our teachers look forward to sharing this and other information with you during SEP conferences in February.  Please watch for sign ups for conferences at the end of the month. This is an excellent time to find out more about your child’s progress through the year.

We are in the thick of winter now and want to remind you to please send your child to school appropriately dressed.  Students will be playing outside at recess and need coats, hats, gloves, and possibly boots. As we get snowy and stormy weather, please watch our district website and social media for information about possible delayed starts. We will also post information on our school social media and email system.  If you are not receiving our emails, please come to the front office and we can make sure your correct email is in the system.

We have a busy month ahead with our school Spelling Bee and STEM Fairs.  If you would like to be a judge for the STEM Fair (we need you!) or have any questions regarding the STEM Fair or Spelling Bee, please contact our facilitator Deanna Lee.

On January 27, we will have our first ever Edgemont Elementary Chick-Fil-A fundraiser night.  This will take place from 5:00-7:00pm at the University Mall Chick-Fil-A. Please watch for more information coming home about this fun event.  The Chick-Fil-A cow will also make an appearance at our school Monday during dismissal to remind everyone about it. Chick-Fil-A will donate 10% of all their sales to our school.  Just let them know you are with Edgemont Elementary School, that night.

The state has posted our school performance results and I’m happy to report excellent results at Edgemont Elementary School.  You can view the school report here .  A huge shout out to our excellent teachers and aides who work diligently to teach and intervene with our students to make sure they are successful and proficient  in reading, writing, math, and science. Also a huge thank you goes out to you parents for your hard work, support and follow up at home. We couldn’t do what we do without you!
