THANK YOU, THANK YOU to our amazing Edgemont families!!!

Our annual FundRun was a huge success!!  It was so wonderful to see our students and families come out to show their support for our teachers! The kids ran their little hearts out, and thanks to your incredible support, we have nearly reached our goal of $20,000!!  Thank you so much for your generous donations!! 100% of this money will go directly to our children’s classrooms and will allow teachers to purchase much needed supplies and will provide for enriching experiences that our children would have otherwise gone without. Thank you for making all of this possible! What an awesome community we have here at Edgemont!!

Thank you also for your support of our Bike to School Week!! A little rain and hail couldn’t keep our students from biking/scootering/walking to school! It was a fun week to learn about developing healthy exercise habits and staying safe on the roads. The super fun and educational Bike Rodeo was AWESOME! Let’s keep it up! Keep moving and wearing those helmets! Thanks to all who worked so hard to make it such a success!!

Thanks as well for clipping and scanning your receipts for BOX TOPS! Our Family vs Family competition brought  in $245 ($69 from online submissions)! This is an easy way to bring money to our school! Congratulations to the Knell Family who won the competition, collecting 199 Box Tops! Thanks to a generous donation from AMC, they are heading to the movies!! Keep up the clipping! Amazon Smile is another easy way to support Edgemont as you shop online! Go to smile.amazon.com and select PTA Utah Congress Edgemont Elementary PTA as your charity.  It will say our location is SLC, that is ok. This is the link to our school! Use this exact name! There is another Edgemont in Sandy, we want our funds to go to our school, not theirs! 🙂

Looking ahead to the month of October: 

You are invited to our October PTA meeting, Wednesday, October 9th, at 9:00am in room 121.  We would love to have you there! Kids are always welcome and light refreshments are provided.

Do-“nut” miss out on reading at Parents and Pastries, 8:00-8:30 on Friday, October 11th! Get a book, get a parent, come to school early and get a donut and enjoy some sweet reading together!!

REFLECTIONS  is an awesome opportunity for our children to explore the arts and to express themselves. This year’s theme is “Look Within.”  Visit PTA.org/reflections to learn more.

Projects are DUE ONLINE Tuesday morning, October 15.  Only 2D visual arts projects and photographs need to be turned in to the school.

Battle of the Books for 3rd and 4th grades is starting this month! Our new librarian, Mrs. Krazeck, will be putting students into book groups in the next week or two, so students who are interested are welcome to sign up now! Watch our social media posts for a book list!

Provo Reads is a Provo School District initiative in association with Provo City PTA to promote literacy. This years theme is: “Reading Opens Windows to the World.” Each month a new literature theme will be introduced by Mrs. Krazeck. She will share books in that genre and will encourage children to read them. If they read a book in that particular genre, they will be entered into a drawing and will have a chance to earn a free book.  October’s theme is: “Reading Opens Windows to Exploration” and will focus on solar system travel/exploration, future technology, sci-fi and what’s inside ourselves, and friendships.
