We are bursting with pride that Edgemont’s own Marie Mattinson was awarded the Beverly Taylor Sorensen 2020 Elementary Visual Arts Instruction Award.  Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the presentation of this award was delayed until this week.  She was presented with a beautiful glass sculpture marking her achievement.  Marie was the top Elementary Visual Arts Educator in the state!  The process for selection is very competitive and this award is quite an honor.

Marie will join a select group of educators that have demonstrated their passion for their art form and the excellence in their teaching and advocacy.  We have come to appreciate Marie’s tremendous talents and find joy in watching her students fill our school with high quality and meaningful pieces of art.  Marie has also been a driving force with arts integration in our school and with special events to celebrate the arts.  Our school experience is richer for her talents and passion and skills.

Marie also recently completed her Masters degree.  She is a stellar person and teacher and we love having her as part of our Edgemont community.  Congratulations Marie!
