No Kid Hungry! Child Nutrition Program

Provo Schools to Provide Free Breakfast and Lunch to all Students

Beginning September 1st, school breakfast and lunch will be available at no charge to all Provo City School District students under a temporary waiver from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). ALL students learning in the classroom, online, or in the home study option are eligible for FREE breakfast and lunch through December 31st or until Federal funding runs out. A credit will be issued back to student lunch accounts for all reduced-price and full-paid meals purchased as of September 1st through today. Regular per student eligibility will return when the waiver expires or funding ends. Furthermore, the USDA waiver provides the flexibility and funding to ensure nutritious meals reach all children 18 years and younger in this fluid and fast-changing time. Provo schools will continue to serve breakfast and lunch according to their school’s established back-to-school meal service plan. Online and home study students may still pre-order meals for pick up at any Provo school closest to their home. Additionally, families may pre-order breakfast and/or lunch for all children in their home ages 18 years and younger regardless of their enrollment in school. Families are still encouraged to apply for free or reduced-price meal benefits by September 30th to avoid any disruption of current meal benefits when this USDA waiver expires. We recommend families apply for school meal benefits online. The online process is quick and easy, and we are able to review your application much faster than the traditional paper method. This service is free and facilitates a socially distanced, contact free application process for our families! Online lunch applications are accepted via www.schoollunchapp.com. Links are also available on district and school websites, and following online student registration steps. Please email grantb@provo.edu to request a paper application if preferred. The Provo Board of Education, Superintendent Rittel, and the Child Nutrition Program are committed to ensuring that our children have access to safe, healthy, and nutritious meals. We look forward to serving your children! Additional information about the Child Nutrition Program can be found on our website at itsmealsprovo.com, and our Facebook page at ITSMeals at Provo School District.
