Dear Edgemont Parents,

Yesterday you received an email from the district with information about snow days now becoming online learning days. Here is how this will work at our school:

• Each child has a Chromebook and cord (2 pieces) checked out to them in their classroom.
• When the weather forecast shows a storm students will take the Chromebooks and cord home the day before the storm.
• If our district calls a snow day, the school building will be closed, but online learning will continue that day at home using the Chromebooks.
• If a snow day is not called, children will bring the Chromebooks and cords back to school so they can use them during the school day.
• We will also be sending Chromebooks home each weekend and during holidays, in case the day we come back to school becomes an online learning day due to weather.  This will continue through our winter season until around mid April.
• To help protect kids and keep them safe online, elementary Chromebooks will have a curfew of 9:00 pm – 7:00 am each day, where students won’t be able to access anything on them.

Since the weather forecast is showing a 100% chance of snow tomorrow, Thursday, December 9, we will be sending the Chromebooks and cords home with students today.  If a snow day is called, the students will continue their learning at home tomorrow.  If a snow day is not called, students will need to bring their Chromebooks back to school tomorrow. Please be sure to check your child’s backpack for their Chromebook and cord.

Estimados padres de Edgemont,

Ayer recibieron un correo electrónico del distrito con información sobre los días de nieve que ahora se convierten en días de aprendizaje en línea. Así es como esto funcionará en nuestra escuela:

Cada niño tiene un Chromebook y un cable (2 piezas) que se les entrega en su aula. Cuando el pronóstico del tiempo muestra una tormenta los estudiantes se llevarán los Chromebooks y el cable a casa el día antes de la tormenta. Si nuestro distrito convoca un día de nieve, el edificio de la escuela estará cerrado, pero el aprendizaje en línea continuará ese día en casa usando los Chromebooks. Si no se convoca un día de nieve, los niños traerán los Chromebooks y los cables a la escuela para que puedan utilizarlos durante el día escolar. También enviaremos los Chromebooks a casa cada fin de semana y durante las vacaciones, en caso de que el día que volvamos a la escuela se convierta en un día de aprendizaje en línea debido al clima.  Esto continuará a través de nuestra temporada de invierno hasta alrededor de mediados de abril. Para ayudar a proteger a los niños y mantenerlos seguros en línea, los Chromebooks de primaria tendrán un toque de queda de 9:00 pm – 7:00 am cada día, donde los estudiantes no podrán acceder a nada en ellos.
